Arlen Brown, B.Sc.PT, Physiotherapist/Owner

An intense interest in the injury and recovery process as a boy, and a desire to have a challenging profession with a lot of variety, led Arlen into his career as a physiotherapist.

"I always wanted a career in the medical field and I wanted to have time to help people in need," he says, noting that he also wanted to be able to achieve that and still have a healthy family life.

He achieved his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta and took special certification in Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation, an innovative and highly effective technique of dry needling, from the University of British Columbia.

He has completed extensive post-graduate training in manual therapy, which allows him to manipulate all joints of the body safely and effectively. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Physical Therapy (FCAMPT).

With more than a decade of physical therapy experience in orthopedic and sports physical therapy, Arlen opened his own firm in 2008, providing physical therapy services to Sexsmith, Spirit River and Grande Prairie.

His six seasons as team physiotherapist for local junior hockey teams also sparked his keen interest in sporting injuries and rehabilitation.

He is a member of the College and Association of Physical Therapists of Alberta and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, including the orthopedic division, the sports division and the private practice division.

When he is not working he enjoys outings with his wonderful wife and four daughters. He is active in his church and in the community of Sexsmith. He also enjoys running, playing basketball and golf, reading, playing guitar and singing.
